Who We Help

Touching the Lives of Future Generations of Americans

The United States is a nation of immigrants and continues to be the land of hope and opportunity for millions around the world. It is estimated that more than 800,000 people enter the United States each year. For many of them, the reason is simple: they are looking for a better life. Many come from nations of poverty, civil war or natural disaster. The immigrants and asylum-seekers who come to La Posada Providencia are poor; they often arrive with nothing but the clothes on their backs.

Our clients are referred to us by the United States Bureau of Immigrations and Customs Enforcement or local immigration attorneys. They are in the legal process of seeking asylum, residency or some other legal alternative.

Many of our clients are pregnant women or mothers with very small children. These women are particularly vulnerable and deserve special nurturing and protection. They find it at La Posada. In addition, they find a compassionate staff that helps them prepare for successful parenthood.

Our clients face many hurdles:

  • No money
  • No permanent address

  • No transportation
  • No familiarity with United States legal system, U.S. money, job requirements, etc.
  • No social security card
